First Buyers Close on Home in Karis

The first home has closed in Karis, a 565-acre residential development in Crowley, TX, by The Nehemiah Company.

Alex and Delores Vela are the first homeowners in Karis. It was their first time purchasing a home. “The price of rent was just getting out of control,” Alex said. “We decided to invest in a home rather than pay rent.” They purchased a home by Highland Homes and closed Oct. 30.

“We were the first to sign a contract on a home in Karis, the first to close and the first to move in,” Delores. “Now that we’ve moved, I’m really excited about the resort-style pool, the pickleball courts and the trails — it all looks amazing.”

In addition to Highland Homes, other builders in Karis include Cadence Homes, Chesmar Homes and David Weekley Homes. Each builder has opened a model home.

The builders offer 32 floor plans for townhomes and single-family homes ranging in size from 1,553 to 3,575 square feet. Base pricing is from the $280,000s. Find homes available for sale in Karis here.

“It’s been a busy year as we’ve brought Karis to market, builders opening model homes and the completion of several community parks that are part of our live-play vision for Karis,” said Robert Kembel, President of The Nehemiah Company, developer of Karis.

More Good is Growing in Karis - Amenities & Parks

Five parks planned for the community’s first phase include Gateway Park near the community’s main entrance; the fitness-themed Bolden Park; Bluebonnet Park with an event lawn, covered grill, café-style seating and a playground; Sunflower Park offering a climbing tower, swings, spinners, event lawn and seating; and Monarch Park, a linear butterfly park. The first park is expected to be open by the end of the year. View our interactive community map of parks and more.

Miles of trails will wind through Karis and an amenity center is planned. An on-site lifestyle director will maintain a busy calendar of resident events. Also slated to open in 2024 is a Crowley Independent School District Montessori elementary school.

Liliana Soto, Project Manager for Karis, says future phases will include additional amenities.

“Each new phase will offer additional outdoor amenities, and our trail system will connect with the Crowley park system,” she said.

Soto said she anticipates another 212 homesites in the next phase to be released in the Spring of 2025.

Development of Karis will follow the same community-oriented and rooted-in-nature design concepts that are evident in Viridian, an Arlington community that is managed by The Nehemiah Company.

Also in Arlington, The Nehemiah Company is developing a luxury apartment community, Arlington Commons, along Lamar Blvd, offering 1,400 homes in four phases.

Karis' Convenient Location South of Fort Worth

Karis is situated between Interstate 35W and Chisholm Trail Parkway, south of downtown Fort Worth and just north of downtown Crowley.
